Islington Constructions
We’re still open!
The City of Toronto is doing major construction right outside RAC.
A concrete barrier has been set up on Islington Ave. between Irwin Rd and Barker Ave. Getting onto the church property might be tricky!
Here are the latest updates to help you get to church safely:
For Drivers:
Vehicle traffic on Islington Ave has been reduced to one lane in either direction—one northbound; one southbound. Our property is only accessible to northbound traffic.
Entering: From northbound Islington Ave, turn right at the opening in the concrete barrier across from the church driveway. Please take extra care when exiting through the concrete barrier—it’s a tight turn!
Exiting: From the church driveway, enter the construction zone and wait at the gap in the concrete barrier to turn right onto the northbound traffic.
SUNDAY ONLY: A flag person will be at the opening of the concrete barrier to direct traffic entering and exiting the church. Please follow their instruction and be mindful not to hit anyone or anything!
It’s right turns only!!
Changes and restrictions will be made throughout the construction process. Please continue to monitor for changing signage and road conditions.
Alternative Parking: Sunday Only!!
Off-site parking is available at Thistletown Collegiate Institute (TCI), just off Fordwich Cres. Please note that there is no left turns onto Fordwich Cres from Islington Ave (northbound). To reach the TCI parking lot, turn left onto Gosfield Gate or Elmhurst Dr to access Forwich Cres.
See FOR PEDESTRIANS for instructions on walking to and from church.
For Pedestrians:
Sidewalks on both sides Islington Ave remains open south of Fordwich Cres. However, between Fordwich Cres and Barker Ave, the sidewalks on the east side (construction side) of Islington Ave is closed.
Please take extra care when walking anywhere within the barricade. Remember that this is an active construction site!!
If you’re coming from TCI parking lot: Head east along Fordwich Cres to Islington Ave and cross on the north side of the intersection through the gap in the concrete barrier. Reverse to return.
Sidewalks are open… for the most part.
For TTC Commuters:
For northbound travellers: The stops at Gosfield Gate and Fordwich Cres have been closed. A temporary stop has been add on the south side of Irwin Rd. The sidewalks is open for commuters to walk to/from this stop along the east side of Islington Ave.
For southbound travellers: It’s business as usual. The nearest stop has passengers board/drop off on the northwest corner of Islington Ave and Fordwich Cres. Wait for the light to change and cross Islington Ave through the gap in the concrete barrier.
No stopping at some stops!
Ongoing Updates
Pastor TJ and the construction site manager are working together to share changes and keep you informed. Thank you for your patience through this necessary improvement to our community and for extending grace to the construction crew!
Prayer Request
We encourage you to join us in praying for the Rexdale community, this construction project, all the planners, managers, and crew involved, and all those impacted by the restrictions/delays.
We see this as an opportunity to show people who we are in Christ and reflect Jesus by how we act and speak. Be encouraged that this is difficult for everyone, but the easy yoke of Jesus continues to give us the strength to extend grace and care for others.
About the Project
This construction project is part of the Basement Flooding Protection Program, Sanitary and Storm Sewer Upgrades on Islington Avenue and other local roads.
